Technology!

Bee and I were watching a video on the Youtube from our favorite vlogger, Jenna Marbles. She was talking about little white lies we tell and why we tell them. Some to avoid hurting people we love's feelings. Such as, "you can do soo much better than that loser!" or "No, that dress doesn't make you look fat!" and yet others to maybe avoid getting out of some trouble. Like, "Sorry mom, I didn't call you back because I ran out of quarters."

The latter made me laugh and I looked at Bee and said, "Isn't it funny that our kids will never be able to use that excuse?" Think about it. I'm 32 years old. I am the last generation who really has a firm grasp on what a payphone is. Probably the last generation to use one on a regular basis. My friend's daughter who is slightly younger than Little man actually asked her what in the world exactly was a payphone?

That got me thinking...what else will our kids never get to experience? I made a list of the ones that came to my mind and really, it boggles my mind to think about some of this stuff. Especially since they were all a huge part of my life growing up.

  • Payphones- There was one on every corner. Every business, restaurant, bus station, gas station, bowling alley, bar, and grocery store had one. If not, you paid an employee a quarter to use their office phone. I remember when phone calls were 10 cents as well as 25 cents. My dad never let me leave the house without $0.50
  • Calling Collect- in the rare chance you didn't have a quarter, Or you were calling long distance, but didn't want/couldn't pay the charges,  you could call 1-800-Collect and place a collect call. Or 1-800-ATTCollect. Sometimes, we would just say "ComePickMeUp" when it asked your name, then hang up. It was free that way.
  • Long Distance- My kids actually asked what that was. FACEPALM. I remember when Ohio got overloaded with new phone numbers and a new area code had to be added. Calling some of my friends because Long Distance because it was outside my area code. OH THE HORROR!
  • Busy Signal- this is a foreign concept today. Everyone has call waiting standard. I remember getting soo pissed because I was waiting for a call and my mom was on the phone with her sister. I also remember getting in trouble because I was on the phone with my friends and my mom was trying to call me.
  • Sharing a land line - We all used one phone. It didn't text, nor did it have unlimited ring tones. Caller ID was new and only fancy people had it. Also, you had to share the phone.
  • Pagers- Beepers. I fought and fought my parents on letting me have one. My dad said they were only for doctors and drug dealers even though he had one (for work) and he was neither. I finally gone one at 15 and it was so.cool. I had lots of different cases for it. I looked cool. Later, I paid the up charge and had voice mail on it. Awesome, until I realized that I had to pay .25 to call my voicemail and see who paged me, and then another .25 to call the person back if I wasn't at home and I rarely had that extra change because I needed every available dime to buy Cigarettes, which were $1.43 a pack...
  • Gas- was .75 cents a gallon when I started driving. When it was approaching $2.00 a gallon, we would drive across town to fill up at a station we found to regularly have gas at $1.50.
  • Dial-up- I used to use an early form of the internet called FreeNet. You had to dial in. Most of the time they were always busy. You had to dial and dial, and dial, and dial, and then eventually, you would get in...but you only got an hour...and then you had to relog. Sometimes, on a Saturday night, you could wait 3 hours before getting in.
  • "Please get off the computer, I need to use the phone" - or even worse, being in the middle of a conversation with someone online and have your dad pick up the phone because he needs it, kicking you off the intertubes....
That's all I can think of for the time being...Any one have any they want to add?? :)

Smart as a whip.

Little Man is the smartest kid in the whole 4th grade at Perry Elementary School. This is not an assumption or the statement of a proud mama, this is a fact.

We had his 2nd (and final) scheduled parent-teacher conference last night. He tested not just off the charts, but WAY off the charts in all of the testing areas. The kid is already in advanced classes, but within his classes he is in the top tier groups working on the hardest material. And he is bored to death with it. So much so that his teachers and Bee and I think that he is frustrated because he is bored with it and has no control. Hence, why he crumbles up his homework papers and stashes them in his room so he doesn't have to do them and he lies to us and the teachers saying he did it, but he is not sure where it is.

Do you know how frustrating is as a parent knowing your 4th grader is at an 8th grade level but is getting B's and C's because he doesn't turn in his homework? (Somewhere my mother is laughing an evil, maniacal laugh because her curse came true. I finally have a kid that's just like me) Do you know how scary it is having a child just like you to where you know if this behavior is left unchecked, he will develop habits that are almost impossible to break and that by high school he will be so stuck in his ways that smoking and drinking with his friends, and hitting on the opposite sex is way more important than school and instead of getting full rides to several good schools, he'll end up taking some bullshit job because "Whoa! It pays $10.50 an hour!" only to end up 32 with a family of his own working some mid-level job that you had to slave, beg, borrow, and steal for and just barely making ends meet, kicking yourself in the ASS because you would have made one HELL of a lawyer and by now, you could be making 3 times as much as you make now and feel fulfilled in your job.

Or something like that.

Anyway, his teacher, Bee and I decided to try out something different. She is going to pull him aside and get rid of all the work he has trouble "remembering" to turn in. Spelling notebook, reading logs etc. Instead, she is going to put him on his on personal learning track. She is going to test him to find out what skill set he is really at and give him work on that level. Maybe while the rest of the class is reading and turning in reading logs, he will be reading a book and doing a diorama on it. Or a poster. Or, instead of writing a paragraph on Pocahontas (which they are finishing up today), maybe she will have him talk about the weaponry of the day and how it had an effect on the time period (He LOVES weaponry. He can tell you anything you would ever want to know about any gun, slingshot, bow and arrow etc. Name a time period and he will tell you what type of weapons they used. Hey, what can I say. Like Father, Like Son) I hope this new approach works, because if it doesn't, I'm out of ideas...

Overall, it was a very nice, pleasant conference. It's what I like to hear :D

Oh the drama!

Ya'll.

When J lived at our house, she was dramatic, to say the least. But C, while not dramatic herself (ok, not all the time), she has more drama than you could shake a stick at. Middle school almost killed me when I was her age and I think it's back to finish the job. I was not popular. At ALL. I thought the popular kids had it all. Well, I can tell you they have it just as bad. Maybe even worse.

Her best friends? Enemies today. Sharing all of her most deepest, darkest, secrets in the whole wide world. The boys she likes, the insecurities she has. Tomorrow? They are besties again! The same girl who had my baby crying on my shoulder last night? They are teaming up to save the world at lunch time today. Don't worry though, in about a week they will hate each other again and insults will be hurled behind the backs at at the lockers of each other once again.

Her basketball team was a close knit group of girls at the beginning of the season. As the end neared, they were stabbing each other in the back quicker than you could say cat-on-a-hot-tin-roof! C had asked if she could have the team over for a party to celebrate the awesome season. Two weeks ago, 15 girls were to be taking over my house this weekend. As of today, there might be 4. Some friend of one of the girls on the team (note: Not even an actual team member)  supposedly "hates" C and found out that C was having this get together for the team. To get one over on her, she planned a party at her house the same night. Admittedly on purpose and then invited everyone on the team AND all her friends. All the girls on the team are mad at C because she left after the game on Tuesday and didn't stay to watch the 8th grade girls play or get her picture taken with the team and Rose, a girl who is moving this weekend to another school.  Then, to add insult to injury, one of the girls on the team who never got play time because she wasn't that good (these are C's words, by the way. Though I will admit to never seeing her out there when I went to the games) told C that she "sucked, and should just quit basketball for LIFE!" The other girls didn't say anything but they didn't defend C either which, in her mind was just as if they had said it too.

Sigh.

Here's where I get frustrated. I am an adult and as one, I have already learned the lesson that people like this are not worth your time, effort, strength, or loyalty. When they ask for forgiveness, it's ok to give it to them, but you don't have to be their friend, and you certainly don't take them back into your inner confidences, especially if they have done this to you on more than one occasion. Also, she she my daughter so when her heart breaks, my heart breaks. Where we differ is, tomorrow when they act like nothing happened, she is just as happy and content to do the same and they are all back to being BFF's again. Until someone does something the other doesn't like and then the heard mentality kicks in and so goes the cycle again.

I know this is what shapes every kid into the adult they are going to be. I also know, it takes thick skin to make it out here in the big bad world. However, it still hurts to see my daughter give so freely every single time and to be hurt over and over again and know that eventually she is going to be as jaded and callous as the rest of us :(

Fifteen and one

Well, it happened.

The 7th grade girls basketball team lost their only game this season. 27-25. It was their last game, and only loss. These girls took it hard. There may have even been crying and gnashing of teeth. (I'm not sure about that last part but, I do know there was crying). C was upset, but she seemed to take it in stride after a few tears. She is having an end of the season party at the house on Friday and after that, she will close the 7th grade basketball season. Hey, I keep telling her they did waaay better than her football team :)

Now on to track...

Catch up

One would think that there would be a lot of make up work to do after you missed the better part of a week. However, there really wasn't. I spent most of Friday doing little things here and there that needed to be done. As per usual on Friday though, everyone everywhere decided 3:30 pm on Friday afternoon is when they needed to send over every possibly thing that needed to be done in the next month and oh, it would be AWESOME if we could get it by early next week.

Yeah.

So, I spent my afternoon working my tail off, only to have a metric ass ton of stuff left over to do on Monday. Plus, all of Monday's fun stuff. Also, while my Monday started out cheerful and upbeat (seriously, Bee was in a mood that was so upbeat for him that I was actually savoring it.) and then it turned on me like a rabid raccoon. A Co worker was in a bad mood (ok, actually, she was just being her normal self) and snapped at me for no reason whatsoever, and then threw a file at me. Then, I got into a heated discussion over a somewhat political matter with an acquaintance of mine and further had me stewing. I was on edge and exhausted by the time I got home. At the very end of the night Bee said something to me (he was bouncing ideas off me...only I didn't realize there were only ideas and not realities) and I sorta snapped at him and hurt his feelings. The thing is, Yes. I was talking in a harsh "yelly" tone. But it was in no way shape or form aimed at him.  He was texting with this guy that is supposedly helping the football team by getting sponsors and the like. He is pretty much, in my opinion , an over entitled douche bag who has on more than one occasion mistaken the fact that my husband asks me to do team related stuff during my work day as permission and/or the right to for him to demand I do things for him. Oh, and if I'm really good and do my task up to his satisfaction, he'll throw a little surprise in there for me.

Um. No.

Anyway, this guy made a suggestion to Bee and since I knew it came from him, I was immediately against it and started shooting it down. Apparently, I was using a harsh tone and kind of verbally attacked the idea like a dog off it's chain. He took it personal. He got hurt. I felt really bad. I may have weeped liked a little girl while apologizing.

sigh. I really hate it when I act like a dick.

Anyway, as you can see, I didn't have the mental strength to post yesterday. Sue me. LOL!

Not too much going on in our house. Which is nice. Bee has an appointment with a surgeon today about his hernia. We should know when his surgery is shortly. Ugh. I hope he recovers fast. He doesn't get paid while off of work and we need his paycheck! C is has her last basketball game of the season today. It's an away game at Kenston. It's the toughest team they have faced all year. It's also the team in second place (we are in first and undefeated)  with their only loss being to us, and only by one basket that C scored at the buzzer. I'm a little nervous for them today. You can do it girls!

Anyway, she has a few weeks off, and then she will be starting track and indoor flag football. Little Man is not playing a spring sport. Bee and I talked about it. Soccer is out because we hate YMCA soccer and all it stands for and no one else is doing a spring league. That leaves Baseball/softball. All his friends are playing baseball. Little Man has no interest. Bee was going to sign him up anyway figuring like everything else, he just didn't want to do it because it was "new" and that once he got into it and saw all his friends, he's be golden. But, we changed our minds since he hasn't been doing his school work. We figured that making him sit at the table all night long and DO HIS WORK and then some was the perfect punishment because the weather would be getting nicer and he will have a perfect view of his friends playing outside while he is working. :)

As for the past weekend, we did a lot of this:

Which was awesome.

Bee and I did go to a charity event on Saturday night. We hung out with the Jones's (Mrs. T and MJ)

It was a reverse raffle and we had a lot of fun :) There were lots of raffles, and Chinese auctions and side boards going on. We didn't win any of them. I came close on a sideboard. I was in the top five and we had the option of splitting the $375 pot ($75 each) which would have covered Bee's and my ticket in, but  one lady didn't want to split so they drew one more number and it was mine and I was out :( Bee however, was in the top five for the main board which was $1500 and they all DID split, so we walked out the door with $300. We got to spend the evening chatting with our friends too, It was fun :)

Well...that's about all I got for now!

The Gift that keeps on giving..

Just as Beelet child #1 recovered and returned to school, Beelet child #2 fell to the yucky stomach bug :(

Little Man had gotten in trouble for his grades and I had told him Tuesday morning that I was calling his teachers. It was then that he said his belly hurt. I wasn't sure if he really was getting what C had, or if he was a smart boy trying to get out of temporarily facing the music. Well, I got my answer around noon on Tuesday. The school nurse called. Little man threw up his chocolate milk all over himself and the cafeteria. Poor little bug.

I rushed home and grabbed him up from school. They had him in a change of clothes and he was as white as a ghost. I brought him home, got him set up on the couch where he moaned and groaned for several hours. He got sick several times as the night progressed but finally managed to fall asleep. C on the other hand. Played in a basketball game, won (they are still undefeated!) and changed real quick while I played with my new phone that arrived late Tuesday afternoon, and off to Civil Air Patrol we went :)

C playing with my old phone while letting me test out my new phone's camera

Bee was also not feeling well (chest cold and super exhausted) and for a short while we thought he was catching the "bug" too. So, it was supermom to the rescue. I took C to CAP, hit up the AT&T store to transfer my contacts, stopped off at Drugmart, came home and served dinner to the two  members that could eat (Bee and myself). He went to bed, Little Man was sleeping, I went and got C, came home, fed her, she went to bed, then sat with Little Man as he got sick for the next several hours. He finally went to sleep around midnight and I did too. Apparently though, he woke up at 12:30 and was up the rest of the night throwing up :(

We both stayed home on Wednesday (He wasn't allowed back until it had been 24 hrs of no fever and no puke). He slept almost all day. I watched TV on netflix and watched my sweet little boy sleep.
sigh :)

I was very surprised that I got a text message from the Grandparents of Doom. We had a nice interchange though. Just asking how he was feeling. I am surprised they care, honestly. Later, I received another text saying that the kid's "mother" tried called. No such call came through on our end, but it really didn't matter because C was at the store and Little Man was sleeping and I WAS NOT waking him to talk to the woman who hosted him for 9 months early in his life. I also told the Grandmother of Doom that the "mother" was not allowed to call before 8 pm anyway. Also, that she was allowed one try per phone call day. Once on Wednesday and once on Sunday in the specific time frame. She continuously refuses to follow court orders and it's only hurting her. I got no response from that one.

Later Wednesday night, Little man was feeling MUCH better and I had intended on sending him to school on Thursday. Yet, when Thursday rolled around he was warm to the touch and said his belly still hurt. Honestly, I think he was trying to stretch this whole being sick and being waited on hand and foot (not to mention NO SCHOOL) for as long as possible. However, I figured his sister got an extra day to try solid food at home and fully rest up he could too. Not to mention, I really didn't feel like going to work yet. So, we sent the girl off to school and Little Man and I napped. Like All day. And the cats napped too..see?

Honestly, it was awesome. After C left for school, I sat in my jammies, under my heating blanket (seen above) with the cat and napped in my chair like I was 80. Eventually, I got up and unloaded the dishwasher and fed the boy the requested Mac and Cheese, which he kept down. Along with oreo's. And Pretzels. And Ginger Ale. I also dug out my frames mom and dad got me for Christmas and put some pictures in them and hung them up in my dining room!

Then, I napped. And Napped some more. Bee came home eventually and worked out with a game on the xbox. Worked out after working a job that requires him to haul, lift, maneuver, and carry 100 lb sheets of drywall all day. I watched him while playing on my phone. And Ate a cookie. This, all while having just woke up from my 4th nap of the day.

I miss being home lol!

However, it was back to the grind today...for both of us. Sigh.

At least it's FRIDAY! :)

Ruh Roh...

I got home from work last night to find Little Man at the table doing homework like a fiend and Bee and C in Little Man's room pulling trash and other such stuff out. Dude was in t-r-o-u-b-l-e. Homework. Again.

Sigh.

I am at my wits end with that child. He doesn't do his homework (Hi pot! I'm kettle! But, this isn't about me). It's not that he doesn't know the material. The issue is, he does. He knows it. This is boring to him. He will take any test you give him, that's fine. He will ace it. But Homework? Boring. Beneath him. Waste of time. Why practice at something you already have mastered?

I get it, I do. However, there are things in my life (and yours) that I have mastered. I feel are beneath me (Hello, Filing) and I just plain don't want to do  (ahem. Work, cleaning, cooking, watching that youtube video for the 800th time and pretend it's hilarious) But, I have to do them. It's my job. He needs to learn that too. I don't want to reward him by taking that away. I mean, he would then learn that if there is something I don't want to do, I just need not do it, and they will stop making me do it!

Then, there is the fact that he is trying to tell us something. Something, I think he doesn't even know how to say. He's bored. He needs to be challenged. However, I don't know how to do that. He is lazy. He doesn't like to put forth any extra effort than he already has to. He is as advanced in the advanced class as he can get. He is in all the tier 1 groups. We were told when he was in 2nd grade he was doing 4th grade work and could easily be bumped up a grade. After discussing it, we all decided that's not what we wanted to do. Little Man didn't want to leave his friends and Bee and I thought with him being lazy like he was, making him a small fish in a big pond might be bad for him. Although, this fighting with him to do work he is obviously bored with is no fun either.

Needless to say, there was a lot of yelling, a lot of tears, and a lot of work being done last night. I told him this morning that I was going to be talking to his teachers and we would be discussing him and his homework etc, etc. Then, before I left for work, he came to me telling me his tummy started to hurt really bad.

Sigh.

Visions of cleaning puke up off the floor from the weekend are all still too fresh in my mind. I sent his little butt to school anyway. I told him he could call me anytime before he left for school and I would come back home, but he better be so sick, he can't leave the bathroom. Otherwise, go to school, turn in your homework, and if you get sick, the nurse can call me and I'll come home. Ugh...I REALLY hope he was sick from the trouble he knew he was going to be in and not because he has the stomach flu C had this weekend...

Down for the count...

The weekend started out wonderfully :) The roads weren't a big pile of suck on the way home on Friday, and I made it home in decent time :) I got home and heated up some dinner for my family and got ready to take C to pick up her friend and drop them off at the movies. Also, it was this very moment in time I told C and her friend to behave, don't talk to strangers, and most importantly, NO BOYS and then try and bury the memories I have of telling my parents I was going to the movies with my friends and then after they drove off, meeting up with the group of boys, and instead of watching the movie, we'd all make out with our boyfriends in the back of the theatre. Yes. I was 12. The same age as my daughter is now. The boys? Yeah, like 15. Oh yeah, and we met them off the Internet. *shudder* It still amazes me I made it to 32 without being kidnapped, raped, or killed. Moving on.

I came home and Bee, the Boy, and I left for Bee's practice. It was all I thought it would be. Me, cold and sleepy, them doing boy things and wanting to gab all night. We eventually got in the car to go home, just in time to hear my phone (which I left in the car with an almost dead battery because Little Man played angry birds the whole 35 minute ride to practice) ring and go to voice mail. It was the home phone (ie: C) and she left a voice mail of her crying saying how she got sick at the movies and came home and how she got sick at home and threw up on the couch and she didn't know how to clean it up. I called right back, but she didn't answer. When we got home, we found her throwing up in our bathroom. Luckily, she had gotten sick in front of the couch, on the hard wood floor, and not ON the couch. We cleaned her, and the floor, all up and got her a trashcan. She was feverish and pale. Grreeaatt. Stomach Flu has landed at the Bee household.

Bee and I stayed up with her until 3 am. I ran up to the gas station/mini mart because it was the only thing close and open at 2 am. Got her ginger ale and Gatorade. She threw up till 3, when she finally fell asleep. We waited until 3:30, and then went to bed ourselves. Apparently, she got up right after and was up most of the night dry heaving. Sigh. My poor baby girl. I had a bridal shower for a friend to go to on Saturday afternoon, and when I got home, Bee told me she slept all morning. She was in and out by the time I got home at 5 pm. I made her some chicken broth and crackers to munch on. Which, is exactly what she did. Nibbled here and there, and slept. Little Man went to a friends house to spend the night (he played outside allllll day) and Bee and I canceled our tentative plans and with the exception of running up to Chik-fil-A for a quick run through the drive thru for dinner for us, and did not leave C's side.

On Sunday, we picked the boy up early, and decided to stay home instead of going to church because Bee still wasn't feeling 100%, C was sick, and Little Man had been wearing the same outfit for 3 days (PJ's from PJ day at school) without a bath and there wasn't time for him to get one or even change between picking him up from his buddies house and Church starting. We stopped at the store and I bought stuff for Egg McMuffins and we just kinda chilled. C was feeling better. She finished off the sleeve of crackers and even asked for something else. I upgraded her to toast and chicken broth with noodles. Later, Bee wanted to run to Wally World for Ammo (if that's not the biggest redneck statement you've ever heard, I don't know what is ;)  ) and we all decided to get out and get some fresh air. C seemed to be back at about 75%. After about 30 minutes of shopping, we headed out. Friends of ours moved around the corner (they lived around the other corner before) and wanted us to see the new digs. We stopped by for a few, but after about 20 minutes, C was complaining of a headache and she was all pale again, so we dipped outta there. She came home and laid right back down and fell asleep.

She probably could have gone to school today, but we figured one more day to get her strength up. She has a basketball game tomorrow and really wants to play in it so, she will need all her strength :) I'm praying Bee and I don't get it. Little Man either, but he pretty much wasn't near her at all the whole weekend, so I hope it helps!

As for the rest of the week, Bee has a doctor's appointment for his hernia on Wednesday. I hope they can fix it and he isn't out of work too long :/

T.G.I.F.

Woot! We made it! I made it to work! The roads are going to SUCK on the way home. Meh.

I am slightly sad that my kids will never get to know the true awesome force that was T.G.I.F. programming.  Full House, Perfect Strangers, Family Matters, That one show with Sally Struthers and all the kids...plus that one that lived in the van.

Was it Sally Struthers?

No. No, I had to ask Dr. Google. It was Susanne Somers. Step By Step was the name of the show. It had Patrick Duffy in it. I think it was supposed to be a "modern day" Brady Bunch. Whateves. I liked the kid that lived in his Van.

Anyway, the weekend is finally here. I have football practice with the Bee tonight. Basically, I am going to freeze in a warehouse that has turf. However, I get to spend time with my Bee AND just might be able to convince him he needs to leave early so that he can buy me frozen custard since East Coast Custard re-opens for the season today and I have been craving custard since Christmas.

Saturday, I have a wedding shower/luncheon, and then not really sure what. Bee is supposed to have a play off game in PA for his arena team. However, that whole situation out in PA is wonky and Bee is kinda aggravated with it, so I am not sure we are still going. I'd be ok with NOT going. I mean, I love watching him play, but it's the drive that gets me. On top of that, we give another player a ride so we drive 35 minutes in the WRONG DIRECTION to go get him, then drive back the way we just came, pass the house, and continue on for an hour and 15 minutes. Then, we have to PASS THE HOUSE on the way home, and swing back around. Even when we have the 8 pm game, we don't see home until 1 am. I really want to go to church on Sunday so, I'm kinda hoping we skip out on the game.

I also plan on cleaning some, and training my bangs to lay right :)

Woot Woot! It's Friday! :)

All the white stuff..

Tuesday morning was 40 degrees. And raining.
Tuesday afternoon, it was snowing. And windy as hell.
Driving home from work kinda sucked so I was relieved when Bee said that  C was going to skip out on Civil Air Patrol. However, then she remembered that it was P.T. day and she needed this last P.T. session to qualify for her promotion that she is getting at the end of the month.

Sigh.

Bee is sick. He has this God awful cough. And Pink Eye. And Snot combo going. He hasn't even taken a day off of work, but I know he feels like death when he gets home, so I figured I would be flying solo in the running of kids to places department. C and I left and there was a light dusting on our driveway (there was nothing when I got home 30 minutes before) the roads weren't horrible. It was just so gosh darn windy and everything was blowing around. By the time we got off the highway (2 exits down from where we live. It's not like we had to travel super far or anything) the roads were slick. We slip and slided the rest of the way and I dropped her off silently cursing them for not canceling the meeting.

I don't really know what my issue is. I've grown up in this. I have driven in full on blizzards, where there was a driving ban, just to get to a party, or a boy's house and didn't even sweat it. However, since my trip into work a few weeks ago where I couldn't get purchase on the road, I have been a nervous nelly when it comes to the snow. I just don't.want.to.drive.in.it.

Anyway, it was even worse coming home and when I pulled in, the tracks we made when we left where gone and the snow covered my shoes. Bee knows how the snow makes me nervous, so he said he would go pick her up at 9 pm. I didn't want him going by himself because it hadn't stopped since I got home. We went and got her and the roads were ten times worse. We picked her up and made our trek  home and when we finally made it, we went to bed early because he is sick and I am old (hehe).

At 4 am we got the text that school was closed. At 7 am they showed my route to work. It was a parking lot. Accidents, ice, people moving at a crawl. My alternate route was shut down due to bad weather. I said "yeah, no thanks" and called in! I went and told the kids there was no school and there was much rejoicing!

I went back to bed for about an hour, and when I woke up, all was quiet. I looked outside, and this is what I Saw:

My kids are so good :) Actually, that's C and the neighbor kid, but Little Man is out there too. He just wasn't in the picture. Also, maybe I should clean my windows. It wasn't foggy outside or anything lol :) They played out there All. Day. Long. I was one of the few moms that stayed home, so most kids were at my house all day. They were outside though, so I didn't really mind :) My day was spent watching "Medium" on Netflix and cruising Facebook. I did take a break to do a load of laundry, make lunch, and clean my bathroom (a chore I have been avoiding like the plague for a while now).

My Bee finally came home and we were all snug as a bug for the rest of the day. No one had anywhere they needed to be, and we just chilled. In fact, we even manged to get in a family game of LIFE on the xbox!

Then, Thursday had to come and we all had to return to reality. Boo.

What's bad? Friday, a storm is supposed to blow in that is to be 10 times worse.....

Sigh...
